Committee to Elect Phil Bissett Announces its
Public Safety Endorsement
For Immediate Release
Anne Arundel County, MD. July
16, 2010 – The Teamsters Joint Council No. 62, representing over 11,00 men and
women in MD, including the Anne Arundel County Sheriff Deputies, have announced
their endorsement of Phil Bissett in his bid to win the seat of County Council
in District 7.
Summarizing the reasons behind
the endorsement, Dave Belisle, Shop Steward for Deputies cited Phil Bissett’s
years of commitment to public safety. "Phil is committed to working with law
enforcement, fire and emergency personnel to ensure that Anne Arundel County
remains one of the safest places to live," said Belisle. "His background and
leadership will prove invaluable to the citizens of our County."
Bissett has been praised for
his understanding that safe communities cannot be achieved without support of
law enforcement. In the past, Bissett has been recognized for his work by the
Maryland State's Attorneys' Association for sponsorship and support of pro-law
enforcement legislation. Also, by the Maryland State Fire Marshall for support
of law enforcement and fire service issues, and the Maryland Department of State
Police for consistently supporting legislation to enhance public safety while
serving in the Maryland House of Delegates.
"I am very honored and proud to
have the trust and support of our County's law enforcement," said Bissett. "On a
daily basis, these men and women work for the citizens of Anne Arundel County to
ensure that they are safe. I am committed to keeping public safety a top
priority in Anne Arundel County."
