Dear Fellow Citizens of Anne Arundel County:

Traffic congestion is a countywide challenge. When we go to the polls this election season, we all will be looking for a new County Executive who can make a real difference. For us, Phil Bissett made a difference that benefits our lives every day. We hope that you will take our experience into account as you make your choice for Anne Arundel County Executive.

Growth and change had been causing several specific traffic and safety problems in South County since way back in the 1970s. After decades of dead ends, we finally found help – his name was Phil Bissett, Republican Delegate to the Maryland General Assembly, and Chair of the Anne Arundel County Delegation.

Phil got results:

• The 1.35-mile section of Route 2 south of the South River bridge was plagued with 44,000 cars a day and 160 accidents each year. Phil went the extra mile for us and got the necessary $21.7 million to widen and vastly improve that roadway.
• The once lazy intersection of Route 2 and Route 4 had become a deadly crossroads. Phil worked with planners to find a solution that has reduced accidents and saved lives. We now have a safe, easy-flowing traffic circle there.
• The beginning and end of the school day at area schools had become both a safety problem and a traffic problem. Phil paved the way for new traffic lights with timed cycles around several school zones.

Phil is a man of his word and he is willing to do what it takes to get the job done – politics aside. What more could we ask from a future County Executive? He most certainly has our support and our vote. And we hope you will cast your vote for Phil Bissett, a man who will bring leadership and resolve to the many issues now facing our county.
